Apartment

35 sqm Studio Loft  in Bastille / Marais

4, cité de la roquette - 75011 PARIS

It is a charming apartment with high ceilings (3m34) and atypical volume enabling the building of a 10 sqm mezzanine.    It comes with a 4,5 sqm basement storage room.

The location is exceptionally good offering a quiet enclave in a cul de sac in the animated heart of Bastille district right at the crossing where the 3rd, 4th, 11th and 12th arrondissements meet right alongside the Marais and the beautiful Place des Vosges on the west side and 15 minutes away by foot from the Aligre district, to the east.

While being situated in a lively neighbourhood with all amenities,“gourmet”, traditional and trendy restaurants, cafes’, cinemas, theatres, art galleries, concert halls, night clubs – big open street market on boulevard Richard Lenoir twice a week selling fresh produce, wine shop, organic shop, delicatessen shops like LENOTRE, bakers, supermarket open till 12pm, dry cleaner…within not even one minute to 5 minutes walk, it benefits from the quietness due to the enclaved street .

The apartment and  area are safe, I have already found my key outside on the lock of my door in the morning when not warned before by a building neighbour. I live on the ground floor opening on a secure pleasent paved blind street allowing my 5 years old daughter to play on her own outside.

Building

The apartment is part of a typical 1910 parisian stone building, with 6 floors equipped with a lift.

The entrance hall is pleasant with a new woodden inside door functionning with a smouth sucction pad with magnet and interphone installed in 2006.

The front door is equipped with the same magnet enabling the opening of the door with a simple slide in front of it or with the traditionnal code to dial for visitors.

There is a nice community of owners living in the building which enables a fit and well looked after building. Two owners have offered me to have a nice little wrought iron gate installed in front of the very bottom of my window, but I declined the offer so I could continue using the pleasant opening, for my daughter if she wants to sit there or even a gest who wishes to smoke his cigarette sitting there enjoying the charming street.

Madame Dos Santos, our concierge , is looking after our buildind and after the building of the 3, cité de la roquette where she lives, right opposite to our entrance. She is cleaning the corridor and taking the bins out everyday (white bins for glas recycling, yellow for magazines and tins and the green ones for everything else).

Place de la Bastille

within 5 minutes walking distance you can reach this square which is, above all, famous for its July column, erected in 1833 to the glory of the citizens who fought to defend civil liberties.

The column is surmounted by the golden Génie de la Liberté, facing the Bastille Opera House.

From there you will then just need to cross the rue de Lyon to find the pleasure harbour of bastille, le port de l'arsenal.

Place des Vosges

you just need to cross the boulevard Richard Lenoir (street market on thursdays and sundays) and the boulevard Beaumarchais, within 5 minutes by foot, before you reach the little street , la rue du Pas de la mule which leads to the magnificent Place des Vosges,  the oldest monumental square of Paris built between 1605 and 1612 and and its Square Louis XIII.

On sundays, you will probably meet the street musicians playing jazz, gipsy or even classical music under the arcades surroundind the square.

If you decide to shop around, you might then be tempted by to pursue in the rue des Francs-Bourgeois which will lead you right up to the Hôtel Carnavalet, 23-29, rue de Sévigné, 4th arrondissement offering a large collection of paintings, drawings, sculptures, prints and decorative arts on the history of Paris since its origins,

From La Place des Vosges, you might as well decide to walk to the Picasso Museum, 5 rue Thorigny, 3rd arrondissement.
